About

Artist Bio

Melis Ragusin is a mixed-media and new media artist whose work spans AI-driven video art, AI-generated fine art prints, and sculptural wall pieces crafted from physical materials.

Born in Izmir, Turkey, she studied at Lycée Saint-Joseph, Izmir — French Baccalaureate, before earning a B.A. in International Relations & Economics at Towson University in Baltimore, USA. She later completed the Artificial Intelligence: Business Strategies and Applications program at UC Berkeley Executive Education, graduating with a final grade of 100, and continues to expand her expertise through professional training in AI filmmaking and creative advertising.

Her practice bridges material storytelling and AI-generated motion, creating spaces where the physical and digital co-exist. She transforms tactile elements such as broken glass, chipboard, and epoxy into layered compositions, while also sculpting cinematic motion through generative models, prompting, and sound. This fusion allows her to explore impermanence, presence, and emotional landscapes through both physical and digital forms.

Her work extends from international exhibitions to collaborations with brands such as Within51/49 and Palumbo Superyachts.

Artist Statement

I work at the intersection of emotional storytelling, cinematic motion, and generative AI. My practice is guided by transformation — how identities dissolve, how clouds shift, how feelings flicker and pass.

My process often begins with words and prompting — an intuitive search through language and machine systems until a fleeting moment of emotion takes shape. From there, I sculpt motion, sound, and texture into loops or short films that feel alive. Each piece becomes a meditation on impermanence, on how identities fracture, reform, and dissolve again.

I create to feel — and to invite others into feeling. What excites me most is how a single work can evoke different emotions for different people: for one, sorrow; for another, joy. Whether presented in galleries, projected on festival stages, or shared digitally, my art seeks to hold space for transformation — for the fragile, powerful poetry of change.

There’s something profoundly liberating about not being confined to traditional materials or methods. It’s about breaking rules, challenging norms, and embracing the joy of experimentation.
